Overview
The project focused on enhancing user experience by addressing pain points in the existing app. The team conducted user research, developed personas, and created user flows and wireframes. Key improvements included a new navigation system, a more intuitive transaction history feature, and personalized insights. The redesign process involved multiple iterations and user testing to ensure the final product met customer needs. This project highlights the importance of user-centered design in digital banking and demonstrates the successful partnership between a financial institution and a design education company in creating a more effective and user-friendly mobile banking experience.

Problem Statement

Scotiabank offers a variety of wealth management services and has highly skilled advisors to assist their clients. The clients run their busy lives, they're looking for frictionless and convenient engagement with their advisors online.

Secondary Research

Secondary research was conducted to understand user needs and behaviors through existing studies, industry reports, and market analyses. This provided valuable insights into user preferences, common pain points, and emerging trends in digital banking, guiding the development of user-centric solutions.

Persona

After team alignment, we developed a user persona to identify a design intervention that could seamlessly engage both clients and advisors.

User Task Analysis

We developed a comprehensive user task flow to map the sequential steps required for task completion within the application. This visualization enabled us to pinpoint potential friction points and identify key areas for enhancing the overall user experience.

Brand Identity

In our UI ideation process, we adhered strictly to Scotiabank's brand guidelines. This approach ensures visual consistency across all bank representations, which we believe is crucial for fostering trust and enhancing brand recognition among users. By maintaining a cohesive visual identity, we aimed to reinforce Scotiabank's established brand equity while creating an intuitive and familiar interface for customers.

Prototype

Our prototype phase focused on creating an interactive representation of the website's core functionality. This crucial step allowed us to visualize user flows, identify potential pain points, and refine the overall user experience before moving into detailed design. By prioritizing key features and interactions, we established a solid foundation for the final product while maintaining flexibility for iterative improvements.
